Basilica Cathedral of Santa Maria la Menor
The Cathedral of Santo Domingo, better known as the Primada Cathedral of America, was declared in 1546 the first New World cathedral by Pope Paul III, at the request of Emperor Charles V. This beautiful minor basilica is dedicated to Santa Maria de la Encarnación. Its exterior shows a Gothic style with Renaissance ornaments dated between 1514 and 1546.

Alcazar de Colon
The Alcazar de Colón or Viceroyalty Palace of Don Diego Colón is a palace located in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, which was built on a plot near the cliffs that face the Ozama River, granted to Diego Colón, eldest son of the discoverer of America, Christopher Columbus, by King Ferdinand the Catholic, to build a lodging for him and his descendants on the island of Hispaniola, which he arrived in 1509 as governor and where the Alcazar Museum of Colon.
